My Name is Jenny Incompetence and This is My Giant Pile of Comic Books

Look, I have some problems:

1) I Buy a Lot of Comic Books — I like comics, I like filing, I like to buy things that make me feel better. I also like sales and might have bought about $100 worth of 80-cent books. Maybe.
2) I Have Some Obsessive Issues — I keep a very detailed spreadsheet of all the comic books I own, and I can’t file anything until it’s both read and in my big dumb spreadsheet.
3) No One Cares About My Comic Book Nonsense — …and I want to tell the internet all about it.

So I convinced Chadd to let me write about it here. I’m going to blog about it as I slowly make my way through this giant monstrous thing that has consumed my life in the past couple weeks. It sure is going to be a thing I do and then write about it on the internet.

Hey, It’s 2012!

It’s a new year, everybody!  The past couple of months have been insane for me… I lost my job of 7 years, got a new job, went through some personal stuff, and now I am getting ready for a big move to a new apartment!  This hasn’t left me with a lot of time or energy to devote to the Sense of Right Alliance, but one of my resolutions for 2012 is to change that!

I’m currently whipping up some fun stuff for the blog… including the final entry in my “New 52 as Read By Non-Dorks” series, a follow-up to last year’s big-ass movie write-up, and some other junk that I hope you guys will enjoy.

That should all go up really soon, so stay tuned kiddies, and happy new year!

Flashexcuses

Just a quick update to say I’m still alive.  I’ve fallen way behind on my Flashpoint bloggin’ for the following reasons:

1 – actually having work to do at work, which sucks
2 – The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time 3D, which is, like, so fucking good
3 – Heroclix, Breaking Bad,  Curb Your Enthusiasm, reading the entire run of Gotham Central
4 – actually going outside once in a while

Plus, Flashpoint has been pretty fucking boring for the past couple weeks, to tell the truth.  It’s the “issue #2 of #3″ doldrums, yknow?  But, I promise I will catch up very soon.  Until then, enjoy summertime!!

Stuff For Your Google Reader

Hey everybody, I apologize for the lack of posts in the past few weeks.  I have a few things planned though, so the Sense of Right Alliance should be back with a vengeance very soon.  In the meantime, go read some other shit!  Here are a few suggestions:

Passage to the New Year

This is Halloween!

Well my plan to write a Halloween-themed entry every day in October really worked out, huh?  Lesson learned: Don’t make stupid plans you know you won’t keep.  I spent most of the month reading awesome comic books that had nothing to do with horror, so I’ll probably start writing about some of those pretty soon.  Sorry about the false promise; it won’t happen again!

But it’s fucking Halloween!  I will be watching fun horror movies all day and then it’s time for The Walking Dead.  Have fun, and Happy Halloween!!

Adorable Joker

First of all, how awesome is that new banner up there?  It comes courtesy of the lovely and talented Carla Monoxide, who also happens to be one of the few people who actually reads this blog.  Thanks, Carla!  I especially love the “May Contain Spoilers” notice, because yeah, nearly every post is spoilery as fuck.  And as I write this, it happens to be Carla’s 30th birthday, so happy birthday to her.  I am pretty glad to get rid of that shitty yellow and red piece of crap I made with Microsoft Paint.  Ideally, I’d like to have multiple headers I can swap out, so if you want to make one for me, please get in touch at chaddshyguy@gmail.com.

October should be a fun month for this blog.  I am going to attempt to rip off one of my favorite websites, X-Entertainment, by having a “Halloween Countdown” of sorts.  My plan is to write about a lot of Halloween/horror themed thingies (comics, video games, etc).  I am a huge horror fan, but I haven’t really read a whole lot of horror comics, so I am looking forward to this.  I am going to attempt to write a little something every single day in October.  I most likely will fail at achieving that goal, but at the very least, the updates will come more frequently than usual.  If you have any suggestions for anything spooky I should write about, please get in touch or leave a comment!

Finally… for those of you who don’t know, WordPress has a “stats” page which lets its bloggers know which search terms led people to their blog.  Because of that, I now know that not one but two people stumbled upon this blog by doing a web search for the term “adorable Joker.”  I just want to say to them:  You are my favorite people in the world.  Let’s be best friends.

The Sense of Right Alliance Needs a New Header!

Look at that ugly red and yellow thing that I made with Microsoft Paint in about two minutes.

If anybody is artistically inclined and wants to make me an awesome new header for this blog, that would be awesome.  Anything comic book or video game related (and yes this blog will eventually feature video game stuff too) would be great, or just anything totally awesome.  Ideally it should be 990 x 180 pixels, or something close to that, and obviously it should include the name of the blog (The Sense of Right Alliance).  You will be credited.  Anyone interested can email me at chaddshyguy@gmail.com.

Thanks!  More Widening Gyre soon!

Welcome to the Sense of Right Alliance!!

My name is Chadd Derkins, and this blog will document my thoughts on video games, comic books, movies, TV shows, and other things I do on my couch in lieu of having an actual life.

Some of you may have read my previous blog, How Much Wii Can You Take, in which I tracked my progress in the video games I played.  I will be doing that here as well, but since my obsessions shift frequently, I will not focus exclusively on video games this time around.

I hope you enjoy this ridiculous nonsense!
